Military exercises 2019


"Iron Wolf 2019"


Exercise Iron Wolf 2019 will take place on 10-21 June starting at Gaižiūnai Training Area (Jonava region) and proceeding to Gen Silvestras Zukauskas Training Area in Pabrade. Military vehicles are planned to move across Lithuania via roads on 8-9 June, 2019.


Exercises Iron Wolf 2019 will hone battle field actions and command and control chain with a superior command of the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle Group, and train King Mindaugas Hussar and Duke Vaidotas Mechanized Infantry Battalions to plan and conduct operations and improve interoperability of international forces. The exercise is planned to involve approximately 4,000 soldiers from 9 NATO allies (the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, United Kingdom, U.S., and Lithuania).



"Baltic protector 2019"


Multinational Exercise Baltic Protector on May 24-July 8 in the Baltic Sea region will involve roughly 3,000 navy personnel and Marines and approximately 20 warships from nine countries participating in the UK-led Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF). Aiming for a better interoperability, they will be engaged in a tactical maritime training, conduct amphibious landing, logistical operations, and other maritime manoeuvres. During deployment the JEF will cooperate with other NATO allies.


This is the first deployment of the JEF of such scope and showcases its ability to ensure security in the region.


Exercise Baltic Protector 2019 will be conducted in three phases:
Phase 1, May 24 - June 4, Denmark, DANEX, live fire and force integration.
Phase 2, June 9 - 23, Operation BALTOPS in the territorial waters of Germany and Sweden led by Germany.
Phase 3, June 26 - July 8, AMPHIBEX (amphibious landing operations) in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.


Main dates in Lithuania:
1. June 27/29: amphibious landing by the Royal Marines in Nemirseta.
2. June 26 - July 3: Headquarters Company of the 3rd Commando Brigade of the United Kingdom will train interoperability at field training exercise with platoons of the Griffin Motorised Infantry Brigade and territorial unit of Zemaiciai Military District of the National Defence Volunteer Force.

„BALTOPS 2019"


The Exercise will focus on training maritime components to respond to crises in the Baltic Sea region. The Exercise will combine Air Forces and Navy capabilities in order to ensure air support to the surface assets and amphibious operations.

Exercise BALTOPS 2019 will involve warships from 16 NATO allies - Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, and the United States of America, and two NATO partners - Finland and Sweden.

The exercise command will be based in Norfolk (Virginia , U.S.) from were operational and administrative command and control of assigned warships, aircraft and land forces on the East Coast and the North Atlantic will be exercised.
